Earlswood
Valley is known as the "Chapel in
the Valley" and is the oldest Methodist chapel in Wales, founded over 200 years ago
by Annie Rosser. As Annie Lewis, she listened to John Wesley preach on Devauden
Green in 1769 and was so moved by what he said that she gave her heart to Christ. The experience inspired her to organise prayer meetings in her cottage which eventually led to the chapel being built in 1791 to serve the local community. Today the chapel, surrounded by its own graveyard, has a membership of 13 faithful worshippers but the congregation swells to fill the valley with life at Harvest, Christmas and Anniversary Day. |

| How to find the Chapel | The chapel is situated at the heart of the valley in a farming community and is reached by a single track lane which is off the Shirenewton to Earlswood road......... but should not be attempted if there is snow! You will then have to speak very nicely to local farmers with tractors to get you on your way again! | |
